A useful fit for

A single stuffed snack or small filled breakfast when you are comfortable layering batter and fillings and wiping the cooking faces in place.

The main tradeoff

It makes one small waffle per fill, has no numerical countdown, and has no verified ceramic declaration; the exact turning routine is not explained in the manual.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

When I include earlier models, can I make a small stuffed waffle rather than a plain waffle?

Yes. The exact MSW5IVY manual describes a five-inch stuffed waffle; it makes one round filled waffle per fill and includes a ring to lift it.

Can I make several separate waffles in the same fill?

No. The exact model is a single five-inch round filled-waffle chamber. The top and lower cooking faces heat the same waffle, not separate portions.

Does it give a numerical countdown for the cooking batch?

No. The exact manual describes a preheat indicator and an approximate, recipe-dependent cook time, not a numerical countdown display.

The Nostalgia MyMini MSW5IVY is an earlier, small-format maker for one filled waffle at a time. A five-inch round waffle can enclose a prepared sweet or savory center, and the supplied ring helps lift it. It is not a shortcut for several servings, a large conventional waffle, a verified ceramic surface or a numerical cooking timer.

Confirm the model before you compare it

The paper trail is confusing: Nostalgia’s support index calls MSW5IVY a “Vertical Waffle Toaster,” but its linked PDF now returns 404. The readable Nostalgia-authored booklet hosted by Home Depot identifies MSW5IVY on its cover and warranty page as a 5-Inch Stuffed Waffle Maker; Lowe’s identifies the same model that way. This is not the separately indexed NWFLT2IVY Breakfast Frozen Waffle Toaster.

Lowe’s marks this model flippable, but the manual gives no turn angle or timing step. That listing supports the feature label, not a particular rotation routine. If the turn method is essential, verify it with the appliance and current instructions.

A small stuffed format, not an ordinary one-fill waffle

The manual specifies 120 volts, 60 hertz, 520 watts and five-inch cooking surfaces. It shows one round cooking area with upper and lower faces, so the practical expectation is one filled waffle per fill, not two independent portions. A group means repeated fills and time for the unit to heat between them.

Filling it takes more care than pouring plain batter. Cover the lower prongs, add room-temperature or slightly cool fillings inside the ring, then top with batter to the ring’s edge. The manual warns against frozen ingredients and gives an approximate six-minute cook that varies by recipe or mix. Its examples use prepared toppings such as chicken, pizza, ham and cheese, not raw fillings. The ring helps lift the finished waffle without metal utensils.

Simple heat cues; no verified finish countdown

The manual says to close the lid and plug in the unit; the preheat light going out signals readiness to start. It is not a countdown for the cooking batch. The booklet gives only a variable approximate time, so plan to monitor the food or use your own timer. No numerical display or programmed finish alert is documented.

The ring is useful for releasing a hot filled waffle, but it is not a removable cooking plate. Lowe’s lists fixed plates and no drip tray; Nostalgia’s manual directs you to wipe the cooking faces in place.

Care, coating and counter fit

Nostalgia calls the faces nonstick and recommends light spray or oil. After unplugging and cooling, wipe them with a damp soapy nonabrasive cloth; do not use metal tools, put parts in a dishwasher or immerse the unit or cord. This is not a removable-plate cleanup system.

Do not assume ceramic. The manual does not declare that coating; Lowe’s product copy says nonstick while a separate specification field says “Non-Stick: No.” That conflict does not establish either a ceramic surface or a precise material. Lowe’s lists assembled dimensions of 8.6 by 8.2 by 4.5 inches and a two-pound weight, but does not identify a closed-storage orientation. Treat closed height as unknown if it is a firm fit requirement.

Who should keep it on the shortlist?

Consider MSW5IVY for one small filled snack if you accept repeated batches, manual time-keeping and wipe-down care. Skip it when you need multiple waffles at once, detachable plates, a confirmed ceramic surface or a countdown. It is absent from Nostalgia’s current US storefront pagination, so confirm the exact model number and included ring if you find one; a similarly named toaster is not automatically equivalent.

For another stuffed format, compare the Presto Stuffler 03512, whose manual documents a different turning and lifting routine. For a small plain waffle, the current-reference Nostalgia MWF5AQ makes a five-inch round breakfast waffle but does not enclose a filling. Choose based on the food you want to make, not the shared compact size.
